Vintage drinks with connections to old Hollywood make your cocktailing experience somehow richer and more satisfying. With that in mind we present the Blood & Sand cocktail, named after Rudolph Valentino's 1922 movie "Blood & Sand." The cocktail first emerged in the 1930's and has stood the test of time. The movie is black & white but the cocktail is a deep red. Quiet on the set and...action!
Ingredients
1 part Scotch Whisky
1 part Cherry Brandy
1 part Sweet Vermouth
1 part Orange Juice
1 slice of orange peel for garnish
Maraschino cherries for garnish
Directions
Combine the Scotch, Cherry Brandy, Sweet Vermouth and Orange Juice in a shaker with ice.
Shake like a nervous Hollywood executive waiting for the weekend box office results.
Strain the mixture into a martini glass and garnish with an orange peel and maraschino cherries.
