Mamie Taylor was a famous opera singer around the turn of the 20th century. It seems that a bartender in Rochester, New York created this Scotch and ginger ale drink at her request sometime around 1899. While we're uncertain of Mamie's opera singing abilities, her taste in cocktails was exquisite. Let's honor Mamie and get mixing!
Ingredients
2 ounces of Scotch
The juice of half a lime
Ginger Ale or Ginger Beer to fill
A lime wedge for garnish
Directions
Pour the Scotch and lime juice into a shaker with ice.
Shake!!!
Strain into a highball glass over fresh ice.
Fill to top with Ginger Ale or Ginger Beer.
Garnish with a lime wedge.
